Castle and Car Park closure 

Please note the castle will be closed from Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 August due to the UCI Cycling World Championships. There will be no visitor parking on the castle esplanade from Wednesday 2 until Wednesday 16 August. More information on alternative parking will be available soon. Rail

Stirling Station is on Goosecroft Road near the city centre. The castle can be reached on foot by bus or taxi.

Bus

Stirling Bus Station is within walking distance of the castle. 

Car

Whilst both Stirling Bus and Train Stations are within walking distance of the castle, it is situated up a steep hill.

There are a limited number of disabled spaces which are offered on a first come, first served basis.

Costs (payable on arrival when a space is available):

  • Car parking, maximum four hours. Cars £4.00. (Historic Scotland Members £2.00)

Due to high demand for parking, you may wish to use city centre parking or the Castleview Park and Ride Service (get off at the Old Town Jail, a 5 minute walk from the castle entrance).

To find the Castleview Park and Ride site using an in-car satellite navigation system, enter the postcode FK9 4TW as your destination point. Please note the Castleview Park and Ride Service is not available on a Sunday.

We are unable to accommodate cars with trailers, caravans or mobile homes.  

Electric vehicle charging points

There are no electric vehicle charging points located on the esplanade. The nearest charging points are located at Castleview Park and Ride. 

Bicycles

There are bicycle racks by the car park booth on the esplanade.
