Meet your Maker
9.30am - 6.00pm
Historic Environment Scotland and Craft Scotland collaborated to provide opportunities for members of the local community to co-design new work – inspired by Stirling Castle and the Engine Shed – with practising contemporary makers.
Groups of Creative Industries students from Forth Valley College, local adult learners from Artlink Central and local high school teachers took part. They worked with three makers Laura Murray (jeweller/ maker), Stefanie Cheong (jeweller/ maker) and David Powell (artist/ maker) – over a number of weeks. Participants explored the use of metal in a decorative as well as structural way within the two sites.
Some of the work in this exhibition was also produced from a sister Meet your Maker project which ran Aberdeenshire. Art and Design high school pupils took inspiration from Duff House in Banff and the Early Scottish Silver exhibition which was on loan at the house from the National Museum of Scotland.
