Castle opening hours
The castle opens daily at 9.30am. Closing time varies seasonally. Winter and summer hours are detailed below:

Closing times for independent museums vary.
The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Museum is currently closed. More details about their heritage Lottery Funded project can be found on their website.
We recommend you allow at least 2 hours to see all the castle highlights and to get the most out of your visit.
Following government guidelines you must book your tickets in advance to visit the castle:
Areas/facilities that will be open during your visit:
- Car Park – booking required
- All external spaces with visitor access
- Queen Anne Gardens
- Great Hall
- Chapel Royal
- The Unicorn Café will be operating a takeaway service only with reduced menu offer
- Ice cream van on the esplanade
- Palace shop
Some areas/facilities will remain closed for now, we have a phased approach to re-opening while we work to make them safe.
Christmas and New Year
The castle is closed on 25 and 26 December. On 1 January we are open from 11am to 5pm and normal hours from 2 January.
